Assistant District Attorney Sam Jandt Honored with Prosecutor Award at MADD New Mexico’s 20th Annual Honoring Heroes Awards

The First Judicial District Attorney’s Office congratulates Assistant District Attorney Samuel Jandt, who was honored with the Prosecutor Award at the 2026 MADD New Mexico 20th Annual Honoring Heroes Awards.

We also congratulate Santa Fe Police Department Officer Edward Chavez, who received the Outstanding Officer/Deputy Award. Hosted by the Heart of MADD New Mexico, the annual Honoring Heroes Awards recognize the extraordinary work of law enforcement officers, prosecutors, community partners, advocates, and supporters who dedicate their careers to preventing impaired driving, supporting victims and survivors, and creating safer roads for everyone.

Assistant District Attorney Sam Jandt serves as a Senior Trial Attorney in the DWI Division at the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office. While his work focuses on holding impaired drivers accountable, he approaches each case with the responsibility and integrity required of a prosecutor. He works closely with law enforcement partners to ensure cases are thoroughly evaluated and individual rights are upheld.

The Prosecutor Award recognizes the dedication and commitment required to pursue justice in impaired driving cases and the impact that thoughtful, consistent prosecution has on victims, families, and communities.

Impaired driving continues to have devastating consequences across New Mexico. Behind every case is a community affected—including families who have lost loved ones, survivors recovering from life-changing injuries, and neighborhoods impacted by preventable tragedies. The work recognized through MADD New Mexico’s Honoring Heroes Awards highlights the ongoing effort needed to prevent these tragedies and support those who are impacted.
