The First Judicial District Attorney’s Office seeks a dedicated and motivated Assistant Trial Attorney to join our prosecution team. This position represents the State of New Mexico in criminal proceedings and plays a vital role in promoting public safety, justice, and accountability within our communities.

The First Judicial District Attorney’s Office seeks an experienced and highly skilled Senior Trial Attorney to lead the prosecution of complex and serious criminal cases. This position requires advanced litigation experience, sound judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to ethical prosecution and public service. Senior Trial Attorneys serve as leaders within the office, providing mentorship, legal guidance, and courtroom excellence.

The First Judicial District Attorney’s Office seeks a compassionate and dedicated Victim Advocate to provide support, resources, and guidance to victims of crime throughout the criminal justice process. Victim Advocates serve as a vital link between victims, prosecutors, and community partners, ensuring victims’ rights are upheld and their voices are heard with dignity and respect.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with victims of crime, trauma survivors, or in advocacy services
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and in high-stress situations
  • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements and victims’ rights laws
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required

The First Judicial District Attorney’s Office seeks a detail-oriented and dependable Legal Assistant to provide administrative and clerical support to attorneys and staff. Legal Assistants play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the office and the timely processing of criminal cases.

This position provides assistance to attorney by preparing documents, assisting in trial preparation, performing data entry, maintaining calendars, as well as other related job duties. This position requires considerable knowledge of the criminal judicial system, advanced merge documents skills, legal documentation preparing skills. Salary is based on experience and the District Attorney Personnel and Compensation Plan. 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or relevant coursework preferred
  • Prior administrative or legal office experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic office technology
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional communication skills and discretion with confidential information
